Comment by Clive Martin of Security Alarms to the article in Le Matin 27 October 2014, “ Le cambriolage est un traumatisme” (The trauma of a burglary”)

The recent article in Le Matin draws attention to a medical topic that is seldom discussed “The psychological effect of a burglary”. This is not only a female problem but it effects both men and women alike and has many common features. The physical intrusion of a stranger into one own private home.

The knowledge that someone has touched personal items in your bedroom. The results of damage to family heirlooms and photographs. The loss of sentimental items such as jewelry and watches. It all adds up to a deep personal intrusion into the personal life of an individual and can have reactions from having to redecorate the home, or move to another apartment, or in the extreme cases to a phase of mental depression.

Some 22 years ago Security Alarms refined the development of an infrasonic alarm Alerte Rouge which detects an intruder at the moment when he forces a door or breaks a window. The alarm detects and dissuades the burglar when he is on the outside of your home and not when he is inside. And 9½ times out of 10, he leaves the premises immediately ; no burglary; no physiological problems.
